Hyperspace

Hyperspace is a real place.

Using a hypershunt requires some time spent in freefall, "crystallizing" space. A "safe" crystallization takes 1min(10 rounds), but is usually automated. A trained operator can make a Pilot: Space check at -15 to speed this up; a positive result completes that many rounds' worth of crystallization. A result of zero wastes time, and a negative result makes negative progress. A negative total indicates fracturing, at which point they'll need to spend a round disengaging the fractured crystal and then start over.
